On Friday, the Department of Health or DOH denied social media concerns about a "new pandemic" coming from China. They asked Filipinos not to disseminate bogus news. Reliable sources do not support the spread of posts about this purported international health risk. "There is no confirmation from either the cited country or the World Health Organization (WHO)," the DOH stated, without mentioning the exact sickness. The DOH also stated that "Philippine disease surveillance systems are in place and functional."

The rumors regarding the claimed new pandemic arose from unnamed sources in online Indian tabloids, which speculated that a supposed rise of the "new" human metapneumovirus (hMPV) could spread to other nations, similar to COVID-19. However, hMPV was originally discovered in 2001 and has since been confirmed to be widespread, particularly among infants, the elderly, and people with weakened immune systems, especially throughout the winter and early spring. There is currently no therapy for this RNA virus.

There is speculation that a new virus called (hMPV) is ravaging China now. According to one source, the virus have been discovered in United States of America. May we not suffer what we suffered and pass through during Covid.

I just hope that we don't have to experience another wave of pandemic any longer. We are trying to recover from the previous one.
