According to an article published by Scoop.co.nz, New Zealand's Minister of Education, Erica Stanford, stated that starting in the 2026 academic year, New Zealand will implement a curriculum on financial literacy and digital assets/crypto as a mandatory national curriculum. Financial literacy materials will be integrated into the social studies curriculum for students in Years 1 through 10.
In Years 1 through 5, students are introduced to the concepts of needs and wants, how to make money, manage finances, save, and more. In Years 6 through 10, students will be taught budgeting, insurance, investment principles, interest calculations, cryptocurrency, and blockchain.
