The Federal Government has clarified that the newly detected XEC COVID-19 variant, identified in Australia and some other countries in Europe, is not in Nigeria.

This was stater by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare, Kachollum Daju. He stated that a recently leaked letter was precautionary and not intended to cause panic.

In the letter dated December 5, 2024, the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare, had urged health authorities to activate heightened alert systems across hospitals and maintain a high index of suspicion for patients with COVID-like symptoms.

Health Assistant Secretary and spokesman Albert Domingo said there is no spike in COVID-19 cases nationwide and the XEC variant has not been detected in the country at this time. “We can assure (the public) that there is nothing to fear,” Domingo said yesterday in a radio interview. Sep 26, 2024.

That's right good that some countries are already within a safety lane. We don't need to fear fir now
Health departments in every country this time are always monitoring to avoid millions of deaths that have happened during the pandemic. That was so deadly.
