How many of you here have websites? If you understand anything about SEO, you'll know that for your website to rank higher and get a lot of traffic, you know very well that you must place backlinks to achieve this goal. So the question is, how many backlinks have you placed to promote your website?

A backlink is a link pointing to your website. If you include links in your site, it is not your backlinks. You are creating backlinks for the sites you are referring to. In a layman's understanding, backlink is a kind of recommendation. You are give people information about a particular site. Therefore, it is the backlink of the site you are referring to.

It is recommanded to have minimum of backlinks referring to external websites or even for your website.

Posting too many backlinks is not a good idea. The fact of the matter remans that even websites that allow guest posting so not allow a user to post many backlinks. I think if you write a 500 word article, then you can post two or three backlinks.

An established website you should have minimal acklinks to the homepage and 0- 40 backlinks to each individual web page to start being competitive
