The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) reports that the long-running El Niño has ended. According to Nathaniel Servando, the administrator of PAGASA, there is a 69% chance that El Niño will change to La Niña by the third quarter of this year. Despite the continued rain in some regions of the country, weather conditions are expected to improve during the next week. These findings indicate a transition to an inactive ENSO or El Niño Southern Oscillation-neutral weather pattern.
