Philippines Surprised by Arrival of US C-17 Globemaster III at Subic Bay! – What’s Going On?

According to the report, U.S. Air Force Airmen with the 735th Air Mobility Squadron work together to guide a Tunner 60K aircraft cargo loader/transporter from a C-17 Globemaster III at Subic Bay International Airport in support of oil-spill response operations on March 25, 2023. The Exercise Balikatan 23 Joint Mobility Coordination Center enabled the timely delivery of equipment to assist the Philippine Government in cleaning affected areas in Mindoro, Philippines. Balikatan is an annual exercise between the Armed Forces of the Philippines and the U.S. Military designed to strengthen bilateral interoperability, capabilities, trust, and cooperation built over decades of shared experiences.

The report said that U.S. Airmen with the 62nd Wing unload a U.S. Navy Combatant Craft Medium from a C-17 Globemaster III in preparation for Balikatan 23 at Subic Bay International Airport, Philippines, April 2, 2023. Balikatan is an annual exercise between the Armed Forces of the Philippines and the U.S. military designed to strengthen bilateral interoperability, capabilities, trust, and cooperation built over decades of shared experiences.

In addition to the report, U.S. Marines with Marine Air Refueler Transport Squadron 152 transport equipment during Balikatan 2023 in the Philippines, April 21, 2023. Balikatan 2023 is the 38th iteration of the annual bilateral exercise between the Armed Forces of the Philippines and the U.S. military. The exercise includes three weeks of training focused on amphibious operations, command and control, humanitarian assistance, urban operations, and counterterrorism skills throughout northern and western Luzon. Coastal defense training figures prominently in the Balikatan 23 training schedule.
