Poland and Lithuania Increase Border Security with Belarus During Military Exercise

Poland has announced the closure of its border with Belarus as Belarus conducts the Zapad (West) military exercise. Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk stated that the border will be shut from midnight on Thursday in response to the ongoing drills.

Lithuania is also enhancing security measures along its border with Belarus. The Lithuanian border guard service has indicated that it will implement additional precautions during the duration of the military exercise, according to reports from NTB.

The Zapad exercise is a recurring military drill held by Belarus, often in cooperation with Russia, and has previously prompted concerns among neighbouring countries regarding regional security.
