Prof. Bond Anyaechie has been appointed the substantive Vice Chancellor of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, filling the leadership vacuum that followed the reversal of Prof. Bernard Odoh’s appointment by President Bola Tinubu
At a press briefing in Abuja, the university’s Pro-Chancellor and Governing Council Chairman, Olugbenga Kukoyi, announced Anyaechie’s appointment, describing the selection as “thorough and transparent.”

I am pleased to announce the appointment of Professor Bond Anyaechie as Vice Chancellor of Nnamdi Azikiwe University. Personally, I believe his appointment brings stability and continuity to the institution after the uncertainty caused by the reversal of the previous appointment. It is important that the selection process was deemed transparent and rigorous, as trust in leadership is fundamental in such important positions.
