A 3,563-carat purple star sapphire, said to be the world’s largest, has been unveiled for the first time in Colombo, Sri Lanka. Its owners, known as the Star of Pure Land team and who have chosen to remain anonymous for security reasons, said the stone is estimated to be worth at least $300 million.
The round, polished stone, dubbed the Star of Pure Land, is said to be the largest natural purple star sapphire ever recorded.
One of the owners said the stone was found in 2023 in a mining area near a remote town in Sri Lanka known as the City of Gems.
