According to the report, Japan may have just offered a glimpse of its next-gen 1st Airborne Brigade: a land assault unit now paired with quadrupedal unmanned ground vehicles (Q-UGVs).

The report stated that during the recent New Year descent training, two Ghost Robotics robot dogs joined the exercise, marking the first time Japan’s landing troops integrated Q-UGVs directly into simulated frontline operations.

The report added that the robotic platforms acted as reconnaissance units, advancing ahead of soldiers to scan the terrain and relay real-time situational data, and these systems could help detect threats before troops enter high-risk areas.

Additionally, Ghost Robotics’ Q-UGVs are lightweight and highly maneuverable, capable of navigating rough terrain while carrying sensors that feed critical information back to human operators.
