According to the report, RTX has introduced its first-ever aircraft radar warning receiver (RWR) with artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) capabilities.
The report also stated that cutting-edge technology leverages the company’s Cognitive Algorithm Deployment System (CADS), enabling the integration of AI/ML models into legacy RWRs.
The report added that CADS combines the latest Embedded Graphics Processing Unit with Deepwave’s computing stack, allowing threat processing at the sensor level. This gives the RWR the ability to utilize cognitive techniques to detect, classify, and prioritize threats more effectively.
RTX stated that with the CADS capability, the enhanced RWR will increase aircrew survivability while facilitating the rapid and cost-effective mass deployment of modern AI/ML capabilities. The AI/ML-equipped RWR recently completed flight testing aboard an F-16 test aircraft.
Additionally, the AI/ML features also enhance the RWR’s resistance to spoofing, boosting reliability in high-threat combat scenarios. When integrated into fighter aircraft, the technology reduces pilot workload by filtering nearby threats.
