Should a business extend it's a normal working hours because of a customer?

There are businesses that would extend their working hours and keep all the staff beyond time simply because a customer called late that he or she is coming to buy.

Should a business extend it's working hours for one customer?
 
Personally i don't think this is fair. In this case the customer would always come with their orders late simply because they feel the company would do it. There needs to be a fixed time. These workers also have a life outside the office. Just like banks you can't come in at anytime.
