Should Couples Have a Joint Savings Account?

Last year I watched a Mexican movie (very probably based on the local reality) showing a rich woman losing half of her properties during the divorce, despite the husband was the only guilty part: he stopped to work after marriage, living on his wife's fortune as a good-time Charlie. Not satisfied, then he found a lover, gifting that woman with his wife's dresses and money. In an European country, the judge would have condemned such a husband to leave the marriage penniless, but not in Mexico, cause joint account and properties.

It’s shocking how someone can take advantage like that. This shows how important it is to protect yourself financially in a marriage, because sadly, you never really know how things will turn out.

Cause human flaws, trusting people 100% isn't that big deal. Even trusting 100% a spouse isn't always that big deal. We must get financially safe, avoiding joint account (even cause tax and financial laws of this or that country that result in serious prejudices in the case of widowhood).

Yes you can open your heart in trusting your spouse but take responsibility when things get sour people love money in a bad way.

Here, most couples have joint account. It is used to manage household finance. That said, other than having a joint account, each partner usually also has his or her own account.
Yes they need to have to help them manage their finances better. Especially for the welfare of the family

Couples with joint accounts were more likely to enjoy better relationship quality versus declining quality over time.
What quality is there if one of the spousal is filled with greed forgetting the quality of the relationship that was build first before money?

Exactly my point. Some men don't care about the family. So they can afford to throw money around than caring for the family
If the husband has a small salary compared to the wife, it is best not to open a joint account. Husbands are getting lousy and weird this time.
