Some forums have a large number of active users but most are not even active on the forum at all. Some have as much as 400 users but you have only 20 to 30 repeating members active everyday.

Should forums delete accounts that are not active after like three months or they should keep those inactive accounts?

Most forum sites do not delete inactive member accounts for a long period of time, so old members only need to log in to start activities. The more members there are, the more people will like the forum site and will increase the value of the forum site.

That’s up to the forum owner tbh.

There’s no point of deleting inactive accounts as users tend to come back.

I observed that no forum site delete an inactive account like for example in Mylot, many are inactive for 7 years and when they came back, they were stunned to know their account is still there, not deleted despite many years of being inactive.

I feel they should but they need to add this in their rules or FAQs so that the participants are well aware of the consequence, there are forums like Bmf that don't delete account but they forfeit your earnings if you are not active even once in 90 days.

There is no need to delete the members account in a paid to post forum. PTP sites are not forever, only a very few forum sites lasted for many years like the Post Bucks, it lasted only one year. Speak Chat Forum, lasted only 5 months , RIF, lasted only one year, Index Forum, lasted only 6 months . Mylot tis the oldest, it is still on the go after 25 years he he,

I don't think it is proper to delete accounts of inactive members of a forums. Sometimes!, i use to be inactive in some sites for months but somehow i will go back and do one or two activities there. Inactive members can later become active. In marketing, you don't give up on prospective customers no matter how long you have been trying to sale things to them.

The right time comes when the inactive member resurrects to a forum site. Members also don't have contract of termination with the forum site owner, so any member could be inactive momentarily. There might be reasons for inactivity of some members.

Deleting the account means you are deleting their content too and it will reduce the content on your website, the best option would be to remind them to stay active or at least login once in 90-180 days and if they don't then you can penalize them.
The content will still remain on the site, but the user’s account won’t remain.

Still, I feel it's not a good idea to delete accounts because I know of many forum owners who prefer to sell the forum at a profit after some time and if they have more user accounts then they can accept a decent value of their forum
