Social media has been buzzing after photos of a newborn baby in Brazil holding the very contraceptive coil that was supposed to prevent his birth went viral.

The baby boy, named Matheus Gabriel, was delivered at Hospital Sagrado Coracão de Jesus in Nerópolis, Goiás. His mother, Queidy Araujo de Oliveira, had been on an intrauterine device (IUD), also known as the copper coil, for nearly two years — a contraceptive said to be more than 99 percent effective.

Queidy only found out she was pregnant during a routine check, and since doctors explained removing the coil could risk the pregnancy, it was left inside her womb until delivery. Her journey wasn’t easy, as she experienced bleeding and partial detachment, but eventually, her son was born safe and healthy, per India Today.

There are strange ways some doctors use that increases the pain of a pregnant woman which is not acceptable.
