In a move that a few concerns could spark a new civil war in South Sudan, Riek Machar, the country's first vice president, has been charged with murder, treason, and crimes against humanity. According to Justice Minister Joseph Geng Akech, Machar's charges are related to an alleged March attack by a militia that is purportedly associated with the vice president. Tanks and soldiers have blocked the routes that lead to his home in the capital, Juba.
