As I was leaving my house today, my neighbor was berating her younger sister and almost beating her. The young lady had spent $500 to buy her boyfriend a phone. Do you think it is wasteful to spend money on a person that you are dating and you are not married to?

It depends on where the relationship is going to, personally i believe every reasonable person going into a relationship would be for marriage, so spending on such a person should not be considered as wasteful.

Generally, men buy things for their girlfriends, but nowadays, maybe considering the financial condition of their partner, I think it's reasonable as long as I still have idle money, there's nothing wrong with me buying the latest cellphone for my girlfriend.

Tricky one hey. I would say it really depend on the person you are dating. It works well if its a two way
When the spending is symbiotic, it is nothing much to do. But when one person is parasitic, it is very difficult to keep spending for the person you are romantically involved with.
