Suspect accused of killing elderly couple in New York City taken into custody

A man suspected of killing an elderly couple and then burning their home has been apprehended by New York City police. According to police, Jamel McGriff burned down Frank and Maureen Olton's Queens borough home after spending five hours inside. The NYPD Commissioner, Jessica Tisch, called the act a "horrific double homicide, robbery and arson" after pointing out that surveillance footage shows him wandering the neighborhood before he spoke to Frank Olton and entered the couple's property. According to investigators, the 42-year-old suspect, who has a long criminal past, was released on probation in 2023.
