Suspect arrested as troops foil armed robbery attack along Kaduna-Abuja highway
Troops of 1 Division Nigerian Army/ Sector 1 Operation FANSAN YAMMA have successfully foiled an armed robbery attack along the Abuja–Kaduna Highway, thereby preventing harm to commuters.
Acting Deputy Director Army Public Relations, 1 Division Nigerian Army/Sector 1 Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Lieutenant Colonel Shuaibu Umar, who made this known in a statement on Tuesday, January 6, 2025 said one suspect was shot dead during the operation while others managed to escape.
“The incident occurred today 6 January 2026, when troops on routine patrol received a distress call regarding an ongoing armed robbery attack at Nasarawan Doka. Upon receipt of the information, the troops immediately mobilised to the location and engaged the criminals, effectively neutralising the threat,” the statement read.
During the encounter, one of the arrested suspects, Kabiru Zayyanu, who sustained a gunshot wound to the leg and was promptly evacuated to Doka General Hospital, where he received first aid. Other members of the criminal gang fled the scene.
