I have never received gifts from strangers, to be honest. And, even if I have an admirer, I would not just accept the gift without knowing their true intentions. Some people tend to make assumptions when you do that. They might think that you are giving them an opportunity to pursue you, or they might believe that they have a chance with you. It is better to let them know that you are not interested rather than giving them false hopes.
