After gaining power in 2021, the Taliban barred girls from attending school past the sixth grade on the grounds that it was opposed to their belief in Sharia, or Islamic law. They didn't stop it for boys, and they don't appear to be making the changes that are required to allow girls and women back into schools and campuses.
