Tax evasion is a serious offence in Hong Kong. A person convicted of tax evasion may be liable to a fine of up to HKD 50,000 (USD7000) and imprisonment for up to three years.

Jail sentence is the landing place of a tax evader. There are no time businesses in the Philippines like AND-CBN. It's a giant TV network with satellites nationwide but it was learned that the owner and president of the TV station that Mr. Lopez, the owner failed to pay taxes for straight 8 years amounting to 1.8 billion pesos. He was not jailed but the Supreme Court ordered the closure of ABS - CBN.
