Reports online has it that Thailand's king has signed a marriage equality bill into law. This makes the country the first in South East Asia to recognise same-sex unions.
The bill cleared in the Senate in June 2024 but required the monarch's endorsement to become law. it was published in the Royal Gazette on Tuesday, September 24, and will come into effect on 22 January next year.
An activists hailed the move as historic as it marks the culmination of years of campaigning for marriage equality.
