The leadership of the Assemblies of God Church has issued a directive prohibiting its pastors from marrying women who are not members of the church

The directive was announced by the General Superintendent of the Assemblies of God, Nigeria Rev. Abel Amadi, during the 2026 Leaders’ Retreat held at Evangel Camp, Okpoto, in Ebonyi State.

Addressing church leaders at the retreat, Rev. Amadi instructed district presbyteries to strictly enforce the policy, emphasising that no pastor should be granted approval to marry outside the denomination.

I think is a very selfish and materialistic approach to self survival of the religious organization. Love doesn't know boundaries and can't be restricted! They are indirectly destabilizing the organization thinking they are building it.

It a very crazy thing to do, if the man doesn't find any woman that he likes in the church what was he supposed to do? This act is a selfish one.
