In recent years, electric vehicles (EVs) have been gaining momentum as a solution to reduce carbon emissions and combat pollution in large cities. Companies such as Tesla, BMW and Ford, among others, are investing heavily in more efficient battery technologies and charging infrastructure. The European Union and countries such as China are encouraging the production and purchase of electric vehicles through subsidies and carbon reduction targets.

However, significant challenges remain, such as the high upfront cost of EVs, the lack of adequate infrastructure in many countries and the environmental concerns related to the production of lithium batteries. At the same time, some argue that electric vehicles may only be a temporary solution while other technologies, such as hydrogen, continue to be developed.

Are electric vehicles really the best solution to the climate crisis or are we just shifting the problem from one place to another?

How can governments accelerate the adoption of electric vehicles in less developed countries where infrastructure is still limited?
