It is like this business is booming right now. These recycling agents go into the streets and scout for metals that households don't use again. They buy per kg. They gather them and recycling companies come in trucks to pack them.

Does such business exist in your location? Is it profitable?
 
I have noticed this sudden boom with this business in my location but I don't think it is profitable to the sellers as you are given small money per kilo of metal you sell.
What do they stand to lose? Something they would have still disposed at the end of the day? It is even good they can find someone to buy them.
 
Yes i do see people going about picking mental and even willing to buy from individuals, i believe it is lucrative, if it was not they won't be doing it.
 
Many burglars and robbers are robbing the steel and other utensils from homes which are locked to sell them as scrap if they cannot find any valuable items.
Most of the scrap dealers are also good in stealing metals and other costly household items. About 90 percent of them are petty criminals!
