To what end are tech companies launching rockets into space?

It seems like the launching of rockets into space by tech giants would be the new commercial competitive battle ground in the tech sphere.

Of what commercial advantage does a company have by launching a rocket into space? How would it increase the commercial success of the company?

For Tesla, I know their aim to make space travel mainstream and providing accessible internet to people worldwide with satellites into space.

Each of these companies have their reasons though, one of them is just to gain more ground, to make their presence known, while some are simply trying to develop better technologies.
