There are certain tools that are used to identify a profession that a person belongs to without having to ask the person. Anyone that carries a tape around is certainly a fashion designer.

Which professions do you know that are identified by a particular tool?

That's true. Anyone that also carries spanners and screws is most likely an engineer. They also carry measuring instruments like T Square.
