Top staff leaves the organization to establish same business, his former workplace fails. Why?

I have seen this happen over and over again. When staff of an organization leaves the organization to open the same business within the same vicinity, their former workplace starts declining.

How can that be prevented in a business organization?

It is just a result of the customers being loyal to the staff than the business organization. That's the danger of allowing a customer to be too powerful in the business running.
