According to the report, Ukraine said on January 7 that its forces struck a Russian military "command post" in Russia's Kursk region during "combat operations."

The report said that Kyiv made the remarks while backtracking on a claim it had launched a fresh offensive in the border area. Meanwhile, Ukrainian Special Operations Forces (SSO) have reported the elimination of 13 North Korean soldiers in Kursk.

The report added that the SSO said on January 7 that their operators killed five North Korean soldiers in a gunfight and eliminated eight more using drones. Among the items recovered from the deceased soldiers was a letter addressed to the Communist Party of North Korea. Since Aug. 6, 2024, when Ukrainian forces crossed into the Kursk Oblast, the SSO has carried out a series of strikes on Russian troop positions.
