According to the report, in the Black Sea, a combat drone attacked a Turkish-flagged merchant vessel sailing from Odesa with a cargo of sunflower oil. The media outlet reported that the attack occurred on the night of December 23 in international waters. The strike hit the ship's living quarters, including the area near the captain's cabin. Following the impact, a fire broke out on board, but the crew managed to quickly extinguish it and prevent the fire from spreading. Footage captured by a ship's crew member's cell phone camera immediately after the attack revealed the horror of the event.

The report added that in the preliminary information, none of the crew were injured. After inspecting the damaged compartments and conducting a safety check, the vessel was able to continue on its route. Ukrainian sources indicate that Russia carried out the attack, while Turktime also reports that the drone was Russian. The publication also emphasizes that this is the fourth Turkish vessel attacked by Russia.

In addition, the Ukrainian Navy has pointed the finger at Russia for the attack, making this the latest in a chain of Turkish ships targeted recently. Earlier, Turkey reported the interception and destruction of an unknown drone over the Black Sea. The country's Ministry of Defense clarified that the aerial target was detected as it approached Turkish airspace. According to the Turkish military command, the object was detected approaching the state border from the sea and was immediately placed under surveillance as part of standard monitoring procedures.
