According to the report, this move is in support of Israel in the ongoing conflict with Gaza, triggered by Hamas's attack on Israeli territory. The Pentagon announced that the U.S. Navy's aircraft carrier Gerald R. Ford, along with the guided-missile cruiser USS Normandy and guided-missile destroyers Thomas Hudner, USS Ramage, USS Carney, and USS Roosevelt, have been mobilized to the eastern Mediterranean.
