According to the report, The United States and The Philippines hold joint bomber air Patrol Training over the West Philippine Sea.This week, the United States and the Philippines carried out the first joint patrol and air-intercept drills over the South China Sea since President Donald Trump took office, coinciding the Chinese military routine airspace patrols over Scarborough Shoal in a continuing escalation of bilateral tensions between Manila and Beijing.

The report said that the United States and Philippine fighter jets and bomber aircraft staged a joint air patrol and training over a disputed South China Sea shoal where Chinese fighter jets fired flares last year to drive away a Philippine aircraft, routinely patrolling in the contested water within Philippines’ Exclusive Economic Zone.Fighter jets from both nations flew over the disputed Scarborough Shoal near the northwestern Philippines. These patrols signify the ramp-up in security arrangements between the two nations as tensions between Manila and Beijing rise.

The report also stated that that two U.S. Air Force B-1 bomber aircraft and three Philippine Air Force FA-50 fighter jets joined the brief patrol and training, which involved practicing how to intercept a hostile aircraft.Meanwhile, the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), together with the defense forces of Australia, Japan, and the United States, showcased their unified commitment to regional security and cooperation in the 6th Multilateral Maritime Cooperative Activity conducted on February 5, 2025, within the Philippines’ Exclusive Economic Zone.

The report added that this multilateral activity reaffirms the critical role of collaboration in ensuring peace, stability, and security in the Indo-Pacific region. It also strengthens the bonds among partner nations dedicated to upholding mutual prosperity and maintaining a rules-based international order.More exercises involving the U.S., Japan and France were planned for later this week in the Philippines Sea, which China does not claim. The upcoming exercise is designed to advance coordination and cooperation between French, Japanese and U.S. maritime forces while simultaneously demonstrating capabilities in multi-domain operations.
