According to news of a US-proposed 'peace plan' that largely favours Russia is overshadowing the G20 leaders' summit currently underway in South Africa. The first G20 gathering in Africa was meant to discuss helping poor nations. But the US proposal on Ukraine blindsided the European Union leaders in attendance, with Trump, Xi, and Putin absent from the summit.

EU leaders had held emergency talks on the sidelines of the summit.

The report also said that more work is needed on the US-Russian negotiated proposal to end the war in Ukraine, western leaders say. This comes after US President Donald Trump announced he is giving Ukraine until next Thursday to accept the 28-point proposal.

The report added that the White House has reportedly threatened to withdraw US support for Ukraine if the deadline is not met.

The so-called 28-point peace plan presented by the US and Russia is not just about Ukraine's immediate surrender. It also includes restrictive agreements for all EU and NATO countries. The only ones who would benefit from the so-called 28-point peace plan are Russia and the USA, and Ukraine will lose almost everything.
