According to the report, a pair of US B-52 bombers flew over the Caribbean Sea along the coast of Venezuela on Thursday, flight tracking data showed, in the fourth such show of force by American military aircraft in recent weeks.

The flight comes as Washington carries out a military campaign against alleged drug smuggling in the region, deploying naval and air forces it says are aimed at curbing trafficking, but which have sparked fears in Caracas that regime change is the goal.

The report also stated that Data from the tracking website Flightradar24 showed the two bombers flying parallel to the Venezuelan coast, then circling northeast of Caracas before heading back along the coast and turning north, flying further out to sea. It is at least the fourth time that US military aircraft have flown near Venezuela since mid-October: B-52s have done so on one previous occasion, and B-1B bombers on two others.

The report also stated that the United States has ordered the USS Gerald R. Ford carrier strike group to Latin America, deployed F-35 stealth warplanes to Puerto Rico, and currently has six US Navy ships in the Caribbean as part of its counter-narcotics efforts.

Additionally, regional tensions have flared as a result of the campaign and the accompanying military buildup, with Venezuela accusing Washington of plotting to overthrow President Nicolas Maduro.

From my perspective, the United States' military actions in the region, such as the B-52 flights and the fleet deployment, appear to be a show of force that could increase tensions in Venezuela and other nearby countries. While it's understandable that the U.S. wants to combat drug trafficking, it's also clear that these maneuvers generate fear and suspicion of regime change, which doesn't help maintain stability in the region. Military presence always provokes a response, and in this case, Venezuela and other countries may feel even more threatened. I believe it would be far more effective to seek diplomatic and cooperative solutions instead of displaying such military force, which can only escalate the conflict and deepen divisions. Regional stability requires dialogue, not just military deployments.

This is the U.S. saying to Maduro, "We see you," and reminding him that he has a $50m bounty on his head for his narco-terrorism and autocratic activities.

Why is Maduro not afraid of the US forces, when it is true that his country is known for its drug trafficking? It might be his pride that he cannot swallow.

Because he's figuring that Trump, who has vowed not to start any new wars, will stick to that strategy.
