According to the report, the new training upgrade is giving Romanian commanders a sharper view of soldier performance, moving from simple observation to precise, data-driven assessment.
The report stated that Cubic Defense’s CATS Metrix system digitally tracks soldiers and units during live exercises, simulating weapon effects without live ammunition. It captures movement, engagement, and timing data in real time to allow commanders to evaluate individual and unit performance under realistic conditions.
The report said that it is described as an advanced analytics and instrumentation suite; the system is also designed to replicate hits and casualties closely, making force-on-force training more reflective of real combat.
The report also said that CATS Metrix produces post-training reports that give senior officials concrete insights into larger unit performance.
The report added that the upgrade will transform Romania’s existing live training system into a modern, world-leading capability that will enhance rigorous, data-driven training for years to come.
Additionally, this deployment encapsulates a two-decade partnership with Romania, building on a history of systems that help troops adapt to modern threats. The company said the upgrade reinforces Romania’s long-term training readiness while contributing to broader NATO interoperability.
