Veteran Nollywood actress Bimbo Akintola has shared her thoughts on how the industry has changed over the years.


In a recent interview, the actress said the Nollywood of today is more focused on appearance than passion, unlike when she and her colleagues started out.

According to her, back then actors were driven purely by hunger and passion, not money or glamour. She recalled how they would work long hours, even overnight, without caring about food or pay, just to bring stories to life.

Akintola mentioned that legends like Joke Silva and Shola Sobowale were also passionate about their craft, prioritising the art over comfort.

I think her observation is right and there is a lot of changes in the industry that makes the movie industry lose relevance. Now, social media have makes it difficult for movies industry to make money unlike before that we have few competitors! Now, you can easily make your videos and start marketing it social media.
