Video ads vs sharing video as a regular content

You can do content marketing with video in two ways, one, you can run video ads, or you can publish your videos as a regular video content. When you are running video ads, you can either promote your video through ads or have video ads on someone else's videos. What is your favorite way of marketing with videos, do you like to run video ads or do you like to publish videos as a regular content?

At the moment i simply create videos and post them, but am having some issues when it comes to the sounds used for the video, there are always some restrictions in that aspect.
