Divestment refers to the activity of a business/company to sell/reduce the assets they own or transfer their business branches. Diversification can be done either in the form of selling shares of another company, physical assets, intellectual rights etc. In 2012 Microsoft acquired Nokia, but sold it in 2014, so Microsoft only owned Nokia for about a year, of course Microsoft has intentions and goals, but in general what are the goals of divestment for a business?
