So after really working so hard whereby one dedicated their time and or resources later to find out no visitors showed.

When your website does not receive any traffic, one should try to identify an address the underlying issues.
I’d start by trying to promote my website on social media and on forums that allow me to do so. There are various places where you can promote your website and try to build its traffic up.
It all cames back to an old saying on that very topic,
"Early to bed, early to rise, work like hell and ADVERTISE"
Put together a hard hitting splash page with a real incentive for visitors to take action and send me a link.

You don't get traffic just by creating a great website, you need to do SEO and digital marketing. If you don't have traffic, work for it.
I don't depend on a great website to get traffic, but once you get the traffic by advertising you need a great website to convert that traffic into your desired result.
You need to promote your site, and build links. Make sure your site is properly optimized for SEO, and you have quality content for search engines.
This is my main problem in the last few years, I became lazy to write and even let the site be abandoned or I left it.
