What do you do as a business owner if a business manager that has been highly productive decides to step down?

The business manager in the organization that I work has decided to step down. And the owner of the organization doesn't even know if he is going to accept that decision or not. The manager has brought so much good success to the business. He says he wants to be just a normal member of staff and no longer a manager.

What would you do in this situation as a business owner?

I sincerely would beg that manager to remain as manager. I would even offer him increased pay to keep being manager.

If I can't convince them to keep working, the only thing I can do is find someone else to replace them, and hope the new person does better.

I won't want to be in this kind of situation as a business owner. The best solution though is to let a staff that wants to step down do so. Every business leadership should be based on willingness.

You first find out if it is shst you can fix . Let the person tell you the problem and hopefully you can help out but if not you let the person go

Such manager may be quitting in a bid to prompt the business owner to increase their remuneration. Needs careful deliberation.

I would try to convince my very efficient manager to stay. I don't think it is good for the health of a business to let such people go away from a business organization.

Plan the Transition. Reflect on the Bigger Picture. Start Recruitment Quickly – But Thoughtfully.

Over that manager some salary increment if you believe that they are the most performing on that business of yours and also make sure you make them happy for them to stay longer and be happy

I would promote him and double his salary and increase his allowance or get a referral from him in the worst case scenario.

It is a very pathetic situation having to let go of such a manager, but if after trying to convince him or her to stay, and he or she refuses, you would let go.

Attempt to restructure the business to focus on your strengths before you consider selling. Ask why the manager is burned out.
