The ideal thing about building a business that would survive across generations would be that after you are weak, you handover the business to one of your children to manage and help the family.
But what do you do when all your children are not interested in your business and are in other career paths?;
It is not a must thst our children should manage our business after we have passed. Though, it will be better if they are willing, but it will be wrong to pressurize them into managing your business. Don't worry yourself over nothing. You have done your path, leave the rest to God and society.

I am glad that you understand that every man that puts out his heart to build a business would love to have his kids manage the business. But in today's world, it is easier to do such things if the children are not interested. A board of directors can do that and report to the children. There has to be targets set every year.
If it is a company, it would be easy. Or of it is just a sole proprietorship business, the owner can just incorporate and turn it into a company with shareholders and board of directors to manage.
For me l would sell out the business on my old age and take the money for my life after retirement. I would also let the children to do the kind of businesses that they wish for that matter.
