What do you do when staff causes equipment to breakdown in your business place?

I don't really know how to handle this now. My band members had a session on Sunday and they put on the power generator without checking if there was oil in the generating set. The engine shattered and I have to spend unplanned $50 to fix that power generating set.

How do I handle such a situation? What do you do when staff out of negligence cause damage to business equipment?

If a staff vandalizes equipment in my business, he or she is so paying for that. I would be deducting the cost of the damage from that staff's salary.

I think it will be inhumane to ask the staff to pay considering the high cost of living in Nigeria. Anybody can do that mistake even you the owner of the business. Sometimes , you have to be more proactive especially in areas where staff use to neglect to play their role.

For the first time mistake, I would fix it. But if it happens again, the staff is surely fixing that from his or her pay.

If they are always being careless about the equipment, making them take responsibility of repairing them then this might help them be more careful in the future.

It will be better to deduct his salary so he will not repeat the same mistakes again. That was an act of negligence so a staff must pay the damage.

The thing is that thos cam can happpen to anyone. So we just to forgive and repair the equipment if we can

That person must pay and the management should also confiscate his or her ID to make sure that he or she cannot escape. His or her ID could be portrayed in the TV news and even in the local newspaper.
