What do you need for a person that borrows money from you?

As we all know that , banks and the other formal creditors ask for the collateral of loans together with some guarantors, so according to you, what do you normally ask from the people that tend to borrow money from you?

I do not lend money to others except family members. I usually do not require anything from them because I trust my family members.
