What do you think about the water proof phones ?

I have heard about the IPhones that are actually water resistant. But l really don't get it how that could be for a phone that is dipped in waters. Does it still prevent water from damaging the phone?

I have heard about waterproof phones before, I think they are pretty awesome, especially for those in rough regions.
