For Ethereum holders, even though they are staking on a protocol, it is now possible for Ethereum holders to restake on other protocols and will also get returns from other protocols. The purpose of this Ethereum restake is to increase security and speed up validation. One of the restaking platforms that I know about but haven't tried yet is EigenLayer which was launched in June 2023 and to date has
has a total value locked (TVL) of US$1.7 billion in Ether.
