Imitation love is like a counterfeit version of the real deal.
The following describes an imitation love:
People might be acting out of a version of love they have seen in movies or on TV without understanding what it truly means to them. Imitation love often stems from a fear of being truly vulnerable. People might be afraid to show their real selves, so they hide behind a façade.
There is also a lack of understanding or caring about the other person’s feelings. It is more about what the relationship can do for them, rather than a mutual exchange of love and support. Love is only given when certain conditions are met. It is not unconditional, and it can be withdrawn if expectations are not met.
