What is the difference between WhatsApp and Discord?

A friend of mine living in United States says that we should take our communication from Facebook to Discord. He shys away from WhatsApp wholly and completely prefers Discord.

I have used the two apps and I have found that they are almost the same. What is the difference between WhatsApp and Discord?

Discord and WhatsApp serve the same purpose. The only difference is that Discord is more privacy focused than WhatsApp.

Whatsapp is mainly for personal or one on one discussion and for creating a small community, discord on the other hand gives room to create a larger community.

Discord is mainly for team management. While WhatsApp is primarily for everyday communication. There are team management tools on Discord that are not available on WhatsApp.
