For me l have noticed that in every electronic devices there must be an input gadget called IC mounted on them. What are the possible uses for that?

I think the IC is the one that carries power from the board to the particular component and regulates that power supply.
I noticed that the lC helps to regulate the power and supply the energy to the whole system for that matter
