Product embargoes are usually imposed for political or economic reasons, aiming to pressure a target country or entity to change its behavior. It is called political sanction. This is a major driver. Countries might impose embargoes to protest human rights abuses, aggression towards another nation, support for terrorism, or other actions deemed unacceptable by the imposing country or a group of countries. Just think of sanctions against a country for violating international norms or treaties.

Embargoes can be used to prevent the acquisition of materials or technologies that could be used to develop weapons or otherwise threaten national security. This is often seen with embargoes on weapons technology or materiel with dual-use applications. There could be trade disagreements or economic conflicts as a way to exert economic pressure. Just think of trade wars or disputes over intellectual property rights. In rare cases, embargoes can be imposed to prevent the spread of disease or harmful substances. Though less frequent, this could happen if a country is found to be exporting goods contaminated with dangerous pathogens.

While less common as a primary driver, embargoes might be considered in response to severe humanitarian crises to cut off access to products that could be misused or exacerbate existing problems. It is important to know that embargoes are complex and often have unintended consequences. They can hurt the targeted population, disrupt international trade, and create political tensions. They are typically employed as a tool of last resort when their diplomatic measures have failed.

Product embargo, or prohibition of trade between countries, there are several reasons why product embargo must be done such as political, economic, security, aggressive behavior of a country in power or other reasons. A country can apply an embargo to another country with the aim of making it difficult for the embargoed country to obtain goods/commodities that are the main needs of the country.

Yes, you're so right in that. There are possible reasons why apply embargo to a certain country. Those mentioned above are critical to a country even to our country if experience a product embargo. Philippines experienced this during the Aquino administration.

Embargo is a political, social or economic consequence. This is generally temporary but in few cases can go for long time, much longer than expected. Our country has taken a strong decision to stop trade and even ban products from the countries that support terrorism. Here the political government has made it clear that terror and trade can't go hand in hand.

The government must be tough and to endure that those assigned agencies will do their job religiously to avoid such occurrences.
